Stenhus Kostskole

Stenhus Kostskole is located 60 km from Copenhagen and 2 km from central Holbæk and it overlooks Holbæk Fiord. There is train service to Copenhagen every hour. The green surroundings of the school offer great opportunities for outdoors activities.

School Attendance

Stenhus Kostskole can offer you continuous school attendance from the 5^th to the 10^th forms.

Pupils who join us will enter a broad-based programme of lessons. We emphasize the basic teaching of Danish, mathematics – foreign languages – English, German and Chinese - science, social studies, physical education. Creative and cultural subjects are also part of our programme.

At our school we strive for high standards in our teaching. To pursue this ambition we have ability-grouping in 4 levels in the 9^th form in the following subjects: Mathematics, English and German.

Two qualified teachers assist pupils with specific learning difficulties.

10^th Form

The focus in 10^th form is a high academic level, vocationally orientated trips. Additionally, there is focus on languages and exchange programmes. The pupils have the possibility of attending classes at Stenhus Gymnasium, the upper secondary education, for a period of 2 weeks during the school year. This experience gives them an opportunity to experience this kind of education.

We also offer a special 10^th form sports-line.

Computers

There are two rooms, each equipped with PCs connected to the Internet

Our ambition is that all classrooms have computers with Internet access. There are scanners and laser printers.

Each boarder´ s room has its own connection point, but each pupil must bring a computer.

Boarders can use their own computers or those in the computing department to access the World Wide Web.

Activities

We persist in keeping good traditions such as school travels, trips, sporting activities, school parties, one day’s excursions, various cultural events, drama.

For boarders there are activities such as 4 days of canoeing in Sweden, a skiing holiday in Austria, annual parties and survival courses. They play hockey, soccer, volleyball, basketball and they can go swimming.

Canteen

In our effort to provide our students with a healthy diet we offer tasty and wholesome food which fulfils official recommendations. We limit the use of sugar and serve wholesome snacks and encourage the healthy choice through our price policy and priorities. We aim at using fresh vegetables of the season in our cooking, and we serve fruit

We want the canteen to be a nice place and offer good working conditions for the staff and the possibility of further education.

Kitchen

The boarding school has a large kitchen with modern facilities.
